Swarms
Your local beekeeping division may be able to help you remove an unwanted swarm of honey bees. Please note, a beekeeper will not remove a wasp nest, a hornet nest or a bumblebee nest.
Most of the “swarm” calls we receive are not related to honey bee swarms. So please take a little time to check what you have. It will save you time and help you resolve your issue more quickly if you have correctly identified the insect. Check this link to confirm you have a swarm of honey bees.
Whilst swarming bees are usually docile and non aggressive, they can be dangerous so do not approach without appropriate protective clothing.
If you have a swarm of honey bees be prepared to provide the following information:
- Your location
- Where the swarm has settled and how high off the ground
- How a beekeeper will be able to gain access to the swarm
You can find a local beekeeper by following this link which provides access to a national database of local beekeepers who are willing to collect swarms, or by contacting your local Surrey beekeeping division and following their guidelines.
