Surrey Show 2018
The Honey Show Marquee, organised by the SBKA, at the annual Surrey County Show, won Best Marquee in Show.

Around this time of year many divisions have run Nosema clinics. This involves examining a sample of your bees to determine whether Nosema is present. High concentrations can cause problems for your bees and manipulations such as shook swarms may be desirable.

Most of the divisions of the SBKA have been welcoming new members and running training course in preparation for the coming season.
2017
April 2017
A nosema clinic was run by the Weybridge division. Members brought samples of their bees that were then inspected for the presence of nosema and advice given on how to deal with it.
Feb 2017
The Weybridge Division hosted a meeting open to all members of the Surrey Beekeepers Association on the topic of the Asian Hornet. The meeting was well attended. We are grateful to David Kemp, who came to talk to us and also to the BDI who sponsored the meeting.

A huge thank you to the team at the Weybridge branch of Waitrose for selecting us as one of their Community Matters charities, and to their customers for supporting us so enthusiastically. This helps us in supporting honey bees and beekeepers in the area.

The Reigate division had a topping out ceremony to celebrate the completion of the superstructure of their new apiary building. Well done to Reigate for this fabulous achievement!

The Weybridge division received a donation of £320 from Waitrose in Weybridge as part of its Community Matters scheme. Thank you to Waitrose for selecting us as one of their charities and thank you to Waitrose’s customers for supporting us.
